Following on from recent question – Rachel – thanks for reply, if you can help further I would be grateful . In this case the Estate was above the threshold and HMRC want £7500 Inheritance Tax – immediately. A friend of mine (not me, honestly) is the Exector and it is impossible for him to get this kind of money without selling the house first.
Is it true what you say that the house can be sold without probate? Surely any purchasor would require Probate as simple proof that the property is his to sell?
